The collection is focused in the study of the native mammalian fauna of the country and is composed mainly by prepared study skins, skeletons and fluid preserved specimens of small mammals (mice, bats and shrews, among others). The collections includes approximately 6,500 catalogued specimens and a series of tissue samples (ca. 1000) for molecular studies.
