Habitat: In grassland openings in live oak woodland on nearly level to gently sloping upland underlain by Glen Rose Limestone, on soils mapped as shallow, well drained, calcareous, moderately alkaline silty clay (Doss Series, Typic Calciustolls). Associates included Aristida purpurea, Croton monanthogynus, Glandularia bipinnatifida, Thelesperma filifolium. Locally common.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
